MySpace Debuts New Site, Logo Plans
Beverly Hills-based MySpace, the online social networking site, is set to debut a new new site design and logo, the firm said late last night. According to MySpace, it is refocusing the firm as a "social entertainment destination" focused on Gen Y, and will be focused on allowing users to discover content and connect with other fans, with a particular focus on music, celebrities, movies, television and games. As part of the redesign, MySpace has changed over its logo, and will center its web site on "bubbling up" fresh content of interest to users. In a statement, MySpace CEO Mike Jones said the move is an "exciting turning point" for the site. The new site design includes a new focus on connecting users with music, games, and TV; adds social "badges" for users accomplishing certain activities on the site; a new, cleaner layout; plus context-sensitive content which changes based on an individual's interests. The firm also said it will launch a new iPhone and Android application later this year to complement the new online site.
