World of Warcraft Player Wins (Real) Political Office
It looks like being a huge, massively multiple online game player isn't such a political liability. Earlier this week, an avid player of World of Warcraft, the MMORPG developed by Irvine's Blizzard Entertainment, won a seat as a state senator in Maine. Colleen Lachowicz, a Democrat in Maine, had been the target of a huge campaign to try to discredit her efforts to be voted into office due to her playing World of Warcraft. According to reports, Lachowicz plays a "level-85 orc" in the game. It's unclear how many people in politics are World of Warcraft users (the company said yesterday it has over 10 million players in the game).
