Virus Outbreak Stalks Sand Hill Road
In a sign that the technology industry, and Silicon Valley, cannot ignore the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, a private school--Menlo School--which is mere steps away from Sand Hill Road and Stanford, has been closed, after one of its staff members reportedly had contact with a positive case of the coronavirus, according to local Bay Area reports. The private school is a favorite of Sand Hill Road venture capitalists and technology executives, and has taught the children of many venture capitalists and executives, including those of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital, Menlo Ventures, and Goldman Sachs; the school also has ties to Draper Fisher Jurvetson, where Jesse Draper (General Partner, Halogen Ventures) and the other children in the family attended; the school is the local favorite private school for the children of a huge number of venture capitalists along Sand Hill Road.
