USC Entertainment Technology Center Names CEO
The University of Southern California's Entertainment Technology Center, which is part of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, said this week that it has named a new CEO. The center--which promotes and runs projects between the entertainment and technology industry--said it has appointed Kenneth S. Williams as CEO and Executive Director of the organization. Williams has previously served at Columbia Pictures and SOny Pictures, where he founded the Digital Studios Division and co-founded Sony Pictures Imageworks. He also has served at Captive Media, Ascent Media Group, and Technicolor Digital Cinema. USC's ETC sponsors include such firms as Disney, 20th Century Fox, Alcatel-Lucent, Sony Pictures, Tata, Lucasfilm, DTS, and WB. The center's current projects include a number of 3D content development and research efforts; social media projects; cloud computing; and more. Williams replaces David Wertheimer, who recently left to become President, Digital at FOX; Wertheimer now represents FOX at ETC@USC's board.
