URB-E, Packit Fresh Link On Refrigerated Delivery
Los Angeles-based URB-E, which is developing a delivery network based on compact containers delivered via small, electric vehicles, says it has linked with PackIt Fresh, a developer of reusable, freezable totes that keep food at safe temperatures for up to 24 hours. Financial details of the relationship were not announced. According to URB-E, the partnership will provide zero-emission, low-congestion, low-cost replacement for refrigerated trucks and vans that can save companies hundreds of thousands of dollars per year and up to 11 metric tons of CO2 per vehicle. PackIt Fresh is also based in Los Angeles, and recently expanded from developing freezable lunch bags to the frozen totes, which are aimed at eliminating single use packaging. URB-E is backed by UBS Group and is led by Charles Jolley.
