TP-Link: Google's Buggy Devices Are Crashing Your Wi-Fi
Brea, California-based networking equipment maker TP-Link said on Tuesday that it has discovered a bug in Google's Chromecast, which is overwhelming Wi-Fi networks of consumers. According to TP-Link, its Wi-Fi routers--as well as others--are affected by a Google bug, related to Google's "Cast" feature, where certain Android OS and Google-driven devices will suddenly awaken from sleep and broadcast more than 100,000 packets--shutting down routers and Wi-Fi for users. TP-Link has issued a series of patches for the bug, but said it also may require users disable the "Cast" feature on their Android devices.
