SpaceX Sends Telstar 19 Into Orbit
Hawthorne-based SpaceX successfully sent another satellite payload into space over the weekend, sending the Telstar 19 Vantage into space from Florida early Sunday morning. The Telstar 19 Vantage satellite, which was delivered into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO), is being used to provide high throughput satellite communications on the Ku-band for Brazil, the North Atlantic, plus the Andean region. Its Ka-band beas cover South America, the Caribbean, the North Atlantic and Northern Canada. The launch was from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. SpaceX also successfully landed the Falcon 9's first stage on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship in the Atlantic. SpaceX's next launch is scheduled for Wednesday from Vandenberg Air Force Base, at 4:39 a.m. PDT.; that launch should be visible from across Southern California.
