New Clean Energy Manufacturing Institute Launches In LA
A new effort to promote "smart manufacturing' technology, the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) has launched in Los Angeles, saying that it will promote the adoption of "smart manufacturing", with a focus on "radically improving" precision, performance, quality, sustainability and energy efficiency of manufacturing techniques. The new institute, created by Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC), says it is headquartered in Los Angeles with the support of the City of LA and the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), with backing from the Department of Energy's (DOE) Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) within the Office of Energy Efficiency and renewable Energy (EERE). The new institute is being led by CEO Ray Collett.
