MySpace Music Inks Deals With Independents
Los Angeles-based MySpace said Thursday that the firm has inked deals with several independent music providers, to distribute their music through MySpace Music. the firm said it has inked agreements with Nettwerk Music Group, INgrooves, IRIS Distribution, and RoyaltyShare, which will result in adding "several hundred thousand" songs to its catalog. Financial terms of the distribution deals were not disclosed. In addition, MySpace Music said the catalog of Wind-up Records will be available through a distribution deal the firm has with Sony Music Entertainment. Nettwerk Music Group is a Canadian firm which manages such artists as Sarah McLachlan and Barenaked Ladies; INgrooves manages catalogs from Metal Blade, Dolly Parton, Tila Tequila, and others; IRIS artists include Marvin Gaye and Lou Reed. San Diego-based RoyaltyShare helps track digital royalties for a number of record labels, music distributors, and publishers.
