MagnaCom Claims Communications Technology Leap
Laguna Nigel-based MagnaCom, a new startup headed by former Motorola Mobility SVP and GM Yossi Cohen, said this week that it has launched a new technology which it is a huge leap from existing, digital communications, involving the modulation of data for wired and wireless devices. According to MagnaCom, it has begun demonstrating its technology, which it says is "Vastly superior" to current communications products, which it says provides a 10dB system gain advantage over the state-of-the-art QAM4096 standard. MagnaCom says its new WAM (WAve Modulation) technology is applicable for cellular, Wi-Fi, satellite and cable TV, wireless backhaul, cable and DSL modems, fiber infrastructure and other applications. MagnaCom says its technology is backward compatible with analog systems, including antennas, radios, and RF, and is a pure digital modulation scheme that uses spectral compression. The firm also has major operations in Petach-Tikvah, Israel.
