Gaikai Delivers Console Games Via Facebook App
Streaming, cloud-based game service provider Gaikai has linked up its service to Facebook, the firm said Wednesday, launching a beta of a Facebook app which allows users to play console-quality games directly from the social networking site. The firm said its app is aimed at allowing video game publishers to reach millions of potential new players on the social networking site. Gaikai's technology allows users to play console style games on the PC, Mac, or Linux, without requiring huge downloads and installations. The Los Angeles firm--backed by New Enterprise Associates, Qualcomm, Benchmark Capital, Rustic Canyon, and Intel Capital--said that early videogames available in the app include Saints Row - The Third, Dead Rising 2, Sniper - Ghost Warrior, and Farming Simulator 2011.
