ENGIE US Wind Signs Deal With Walmart
Santa Barbara-based ENGIE US Wind, the U.S. arm of energy developer ENGIE, reports that it has signed a new, 366 megawatt wind power deal with Walmart, spanning multiple U.S. energy markets. Financial impact o the win were not announced. According to ENGIE, the deal includes two virtual renewable power purchase agreements (VPAAs) which will go towards building the 366 MW of wind projects across the U.S., part of an effort by Walmart to power 50 percent of its operations with renewable energy by the end of 2025. Walmart is buying 166 MW from ENGIE's Prairie Hill project in Texas and 200 MW from ENGIE's King Plains project in Oklahoma, to match the electricity draw for Walmart stores, Sam's Clubs, and distribution centers.
