Broadcom Buys Siliquent
Irvine-based Broadcom has acquired Siliquent Technologies, a developer of Gigabit Ethernet network interface controllers, for $76M. Broadcom said that it would buy the startup, based in Mountain View and Tel Aviv, in an all cash deal. Siliquent develops Ethernet controllers that provide better performance and include a low cost 10 gigabit capability. Broadcom said that the acquisition will accelerate its delivery of 10GbE converged-NICs (C-NICs) for server LAN-on-motherboard (LOM) applications.
