Los Angeles-based Brainbase, a developer of intellectual property licensing software, has raised $3M in a seed funding round, the company said today. The round was led by Struck Capital, and also included Tectonic Capital, Bonfire Ventures, Sterling Road, and Watertower Ventures. According to Brainbase, the company is creating a product to help brands and licensees showcase, connect, grow, and manage their businesses. The company says its clients include Sanrio, the brand behind Hello Kitty and Moomin Characters, a character brand in Europe. Brainbase is led by co-founder and CEO Nate Cavanaugh. The company said it added Ray Hatoyama, CEO of Hatoyama Studio and a director at LINE Corp, to its board in conjunction with the funding.
