Wittlebee Launches, Headed by Sean Pervical, Backed by Science
Sean Percival, best known for founding Los Angeles tech blog lalawag, in addition to his work as an executive at MySpace, has booted up a new effort--Santa Monica-based Wittlebee, a new, online subscription service for baby supplies. The new effort emerged this week, revealing that it is backed by Science, Inc., the digital business incubator/studio headed by former MySpace CEO Mike Jones. Wittlebee is the third company from Science inc. to launch in the last few weeks, and the second, e-commerce via subscription firm from Science. Wittlebee offers up subscription packages that delivers basics like onesies, t-shirts, socks, leggings and other products to parents, starting at $39.99 a month. Percival shut Lalawag--run with wife Laurie Pervical--in 2010, in part because of the birth of Percival's baby and his work serving as VP of Online Marketing for MySpace under Jones. Last week, Science revealed it was backing another, subscription e-commerce effort, MeUndies, in addition to backing another startup--Eventup--run by Tony Adam, another active Los Angeles technology figure.
