White Castle Expands Deployment With Miso Robotics
Fast food hamburger chain White Castle is expanding its deployment of robotic kitchen assistants from Pasadena-based Miso Robotics, the two said on Tuesday. According to the two, White Castle and Miso Robotics will target up to ten new locations following completion of the current pilot deployment of Miso's "Flippy" ktichen robot. The two said the robots are being deployed to "tackle new pandemic challenges such as social distancing in kitchens, takeout and delivery demand, and higher standards for health and safety." White Castle had agreed in July to pilot Miso Robotics' robots, citing the COVID-19 pandemic. White Castle claims the use of the robot is able to "optimize staffing" during late night shifts, which it says are "traditionally difficult slots to fill". Financial details of the deal between the two companies were not disclosed.
