WD Completes Komag Acquisition
Lake Forest-based Western Digital Corp. said yesterday that it has completed its acquisition of Komag, Inc. The acquisition was worth roughly $1B in cash. WD is paying $32.25 per share of Komag for the firm. Komag has become WD Media Inc., and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of WD. Komag was a supplier of thin-film disks for the disk drive industry, a critical component of hard drives. WD is a major supplier of disk drives for the hard drive industry.
