Warner Media Camp Graduates Second Class

What do you get when you combine a technology investment demo day with a Hollywood-style story pitch session? It might look a little like Demo Day for Warner Media Camp, the startup incubator program being run out of Los Angeles by Turner/Warner Bros.. The program graduated six companies out of its internal incubator program Monday, showing them off at a Demo Day. The startups--which had previously been announced in May--are all working on areas of technology which are strategic to Turner/Warner Bros., at the intersection of technology and media.

The startups included SideVision, an ecommerce software platform; Portal Entertainment a content development company; Bubbl, a developer of mobile and web-based video editing tools; Wisemetrics, social content publishing; Incoming Media, push notification for video; and Toggle, a developer of HDMI dongles for streaming UltraViolet content. All six startups presented details on their products at a "Demo Day" hosted at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank on Monday evening. Most of the companies included a strong element of technology, and many of the startup entrepreneurs in attendance had a strong engineering--rather than content--background.

According to Warner Media Camp, all of the startups went through mentoring from Turner/Warner Bros. executives, and received a small investment, as well as introductions to strategic partners. According to Debra Baker, Senior Vice President, Global Business Development at Warner Bros., the camp is the second in the Los Angeles area. Baker said the camp is both a way for the company to establish relationships with emerging technology companies, as well as help the overall technology and entertainment ecosystem.
