VIMBY Powers Walmart's Entrepreneurship Competition
VIMBY, the Los Angeles-based, online production studio created by Mark Burnett, is powering a new entrepreneurship competition from Walmart, the Get On The Shelf crowdsourcing competition. According to Walmart, via its Silicon Valley-based @WalmartLabs unit, it is running the contest to let entrepreneurs get their products noticed and sold on its website and potentially, the Walmart store chain.
As part of the contest, Walmart said that it will provide broad exposure to products submitted to the contest through an original web series, produced by VIMBY. Walmart said that it will select up to 20 product finalists who will be featured in that original, weekly web series. Up to five of those product will be chosen to be sold on Walmart.com, based on public voting tied to those web series. Financial details between Walmart and VIMBY were not announced. VIMBY is the digital studio of reality show pioneer Mark Burnett.
