Viasat Powers Remote Telemedicine Effort
Carlsbad-based satellite communications company Viasat says it is in a collaboration with 19Labs, founded by former Apple, Samsung, and Qualcomm executives, on a new, telemedicine and remote patient monitoring solution. According to ViaSat, it is working with 19Labs to allow patients, clinicians and healthcare providers can securely connect and share healthcare information even in hard-to-reach communities. Other details on the deal were not announced, but the companies said they will use Viasat's network to communicate bandwidth-intensive diagnostics and health information. 19Labs is installing kits in both Latin America and in the United States, to help connect unserved and underserved communities with telehealth services.
