Verizon Provides Unlimited Text, Data For SoCal Wildfire Areas
Wireless carrier Verizon said on Thursday it is offering up free unlimited talk, text, and data for customers currently in specific zipcodes affected by the rash of wind-driven wildfires in Southern California. According to the carrier, the free unlimited talk, text, and data only runs from December 7th through December 10th, and only applies to customers in zip codes covering Sylmar, Sunland, Tujunga, La Canada Flintridge, Santa Paula, Ventura, Oak View, and Ojai. Those zip codes are the areas most affected by the Thomas Fire, Creek Fire, and Rye Fire in Los Angeles, which have been raging since December 4th. The free data did not yet include the new Lilac Fire in San Diego, which exploded on Thursday evening in the Bonsall area, and was heading into Oceanside.
