Veoh Claims Win Over Universal Music
Los Angeles- and San Diego-based video sharing site Veoh is claiming a major win today over Universal Music group, saying that a federal judge has thrown out a copyright infringement lawsuit against the firm. Veoh said that a federal court awarded a summary judgement in the copyright lawsuit, finding that Veoh's copyright process is compliant with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Veoh had been sued over user videos using music from the label in September of 2007. Veoh is backed by Shelter Capital, Spark Capital, Michael Eisner's Tornante Company, Goldman Sachs, Time Warner, Intel Capital, Adobe Systems, and others.
