United Sample Raises $3M
Los Angeles-based United Sample, which operates online survey and sampling services for the market research industry, announced today that it has raised $3M in a Series B funding round. The round was led by Greycroft Partners, and also included prior investor DFJ Frontier. United Sample said that Dana Settle of Greycroft will join the firm's board along with the funding. United Sample is the latest business effort of goZing.com founders Matthew Dusig and Gregg Lavin; Dusig and Lavin successfully started and sold goZing to Greenfield Online in 2005. Dusig told us in an interview that the fundraising was difficult and challenging, given the economy, but that the firm is in a unique position in that the founders had already built and sold a company in the exact same industry, and--most importantly--that the firm is generating revenue. Dusig believes that one of the main reasons the firm was able to get funded today was revenue. He also said that the firm is hiring, and has just made hires in all of its departments, including sales, operations, and technology, and has future plans to add to new staff as the firm's sales increase.
