UCI School of Medicine Adopts Google Glass

In what the school says is the first move by a medical school to adopt Google Glass into its curriculum, the UC Irvine School of Medicine said Wednesday that it will integrate use of Google Glass into its four year curriculum, using the high tech specs as part of everything from first and second year anatomy classes to third and fourth year hospital rotations. According to the school, it will start by integrating Google Glass into the operating room and emergency department, starting with 10 pairs of Glass for its third and fourth year students. The school said it will roll out another 20 to 30 pairs of Google Glass in August for first and second year students. UCI said the effort is part of its iMedEd initiative, which also has integrated tablets into its curriculum. Photo of UCI assistant professor and associate dean Dr. Warren Wiechmann.
