UC Irvine Chancellor To Head National Academy Of Sciences

Ralph Cicerone, the chancellor of the University of California, Irvine has been appointed as head of the National Academy of Sciences. Cicerone has been at the University for 16 years, and also serves as a professor of chemistry and the Daniel G. Aldrich, Jr. Chair in Earth System Science. He will start his six year term at the prestigious academy in July in Washington DC. Cicerone is known for his work on climate change and global warming, and has helped build UC Irvine into a major research university, and helped established the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, the first computer science school in the UC system.
