UberMedia Powers App For The Economist Group
Pasadena-based UberMedia, the developer of Twitter client applications, said Thursday that it has partnered with the publisher of The Economist to power a new desktop application and curated channel Idea People Media, The Economist Group's vertical ad network business. UberMedia said that the two will launch a custom desktop application, and a curated "UberChannel" within its UberSocial smartphone app, based on content from the network of Ideas People Media. Content providers to that vertical include The Economist, Daily Kos, National Review, Talking Points Memo and VentureBeat. Financial arrangements between the partnership were not disclosed. UberMedia has been busy linking up with content provideres, creating custom channels and apps; the company has deals with 50 Cent; Ashton Kutcher; The Hollywood Reporter; USA TODAY; and others. This looks to be the first desktop application deal by the firm.
