Truepic Takes $26M For Photo Verification
San Diego-based Truepic, a startup that provides photo verification technology, said today that it has raised $26M in a Series B funding round. The funding was led by M12, and also included Adobe, Sony Innovation Fund by IGV1, Heart Ventures, and individuals from Stone Point Capital. According to the company, the funds will go to secure its technology. Truepic says it has developed "secure camera technology" which captures data such as origin, content, and metadata to help restore trust in digital images, and which uses strong cryptography to protect those images from tampering. The company said its technology is being used by such customers as Accion Opportunity Fund, Equifax, EXL Service Inc, Ford Motor Company, Palomar Holdings Inc., Transunion, and United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).
