Transphorm Joint Venture Acquires Fab Facility In Japan
Goleta-based gallium nitride (GaN) power conversion device maker Transphorm says it has acquired a wafer fabrication operation in Japan. According to Transphorm, the acquisition of 100% interest in the Company's AFSW wafer-fab facility is by GaNovation, Transphorm's recent joint venture with Palo Alto-based JCP Capital, a new strategic-financial partner. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced, however, Transphorm says reduces its effective stake in AFSW to 25%, down from its previous 49% stake. Transphorm previously had a joint venture with Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited (FSL) at the plant, which is in Aizu Wakamatsu, Japan.
