SpaceX Launch Targeted For Today At 12:47PM At Vandenberg
Those stepping outside for lunch today might just see a rocket up in the sky--if the latest, SpaceX launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base goes off as planned. SpaceX is planning to launch another series of satellites for Iridium today, May 22nd, at 12:57:58pm, plus a payload for NASA. SpaceX's lauch of five satellites for Iridium's communications network and the NASA Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment Follow-On (GRACE-FO) should be slightly visible from Southern California, if the marine layer does not obscure the launch; due to the mid-day launch, the rocket will not be as visible as those launches done during dusk, dawn, or evening hours.
