Southern California Teams Named Cleantech Open Semifinalists

The Cleantech Open, the clean technology focused business competition, has named the semifinalists for its 2010 competition, indicating a number of Southern California firms are semifinalists in the competition. According to the Cleantech Open, the teams are competing for up to $50,000 in cash and in-kind services in their region, and a grand prize of $250,000 in cash and services nationally for the best business plans and investor pitches for their firms. In the California region, in the Air, Water and Waste category, the Cleantech Open said La Mesa-based Biogas & Electric and Irvine's Enova Water, along with Corona Del Mar's SierraWave Tech were among the seven semifinalists; in the Energy Efficiency category, Venice-based Enovative Kontrol Systems was one of the seven semifinalists; in the Green Building category, San Diego firms ChloroFill and Skanden Energy joined Newport Beach-based TylerCo among the semifinalists. In the Renewable Energy category, Pasadena-based Nascent Solar Technologies and Viresco Energy of Riverside were recognized; in Smart Power, Monterey Park-based Extreme Capacitor was a semifinalist. Finally, in the Transportation category, Ojai-based GoTek Energy, Los Angeles-based Pressure Sentinel, and Escondido-based Team TransPower are all competing for the next level of prizes.
