Southern California Firms Pitch Bay Area VCs
Southern California high tech companies mixed with Bay Area venture capitalists and startups yesterday at AlwaysOn Hollywood, a conference being held at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. The conference, run by AlwaysOn, an online publication run by former Red Herring founder Tony Perkins, enters its third and final day today. Among the companies presenting at the conference included Los Angeles-based Revver, an online service that distributes and places advertising in video; LiveDigital, a service of Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, an online video sharing site; San Diego-based DivX Networks, a provider of its own video codec; and Monrovia-based MusicIP, an online music recommendation and discovery engine. Of the firms presenting at the conference yesterday, Revver got the most positive comments from a panel of experts. The conference also featured Michael Robertson, founder of MP3Tunes.com, showing his company's new music locker service. Today, pitching to the audience will be another set of companies, including Southern California companies PROTOMOBL, Userplane, and DAVE.TV.
