Sony Online Entertainment Launches User-Generated Content Program
San DIego-based Sony Online Entertainment announced yesterday that it has launched a new program which allows users to create their own, in-game items for its popular EverQuest franchise. Sony said it has launched Player Studio, a new program which allows users to create actual, in-game objects, which can be submitted to Sony for inclusion in the SOE Marketplace. The user-generated game objects will be offered up to other players, and 40 percent of the net amount received from sale of those items will go back to the player. Sony said the new program is the first time that players will be able to build and sell their own items in the game. Sony said it will provide sample geometry to players who can then create items using third party art tools.
