Sony Electronics Cuts 400 In San Diego
Sony Electronics said Wednesday that it is cutting approximately 1,000 employees in the United States, part of a global cut of 5,000 employees, a move which will affect 400 of the company's employees in San Diego. Sony also said it will close 20 of its retail, U.S. Sony Stores in the move. Sony said the cuts were made to position the company in the "best possible place for future growth". The cuts are part of a reswizzling of Sony's electronics business, which includes the sale of the company's Vaio personal computer business--which dramatically affects the company's retail operations.
