Soliant Energy Installs In Palm Springs
Pasadena-based Soliant Energy, the developer of concentrating solar energy systems, said this week that it has commercially installed one of its systems in Palm Springs, California. The firm, which is backed by Convexa Capital, GE Energy, Nth Power, Rincon Venture Partners, Rockport Capital Partners, and Trinity Ventures, has been focusing its energies on the commercial rooftop market. The firm said the install was on a commercially owned, 28,000 square foot building in Palm Springs, anchored by tenant the General Services Administration, and was installed by renewable energy installer True Generation. The firm said the install was a 2 kilowatt rooftop concentrated solar system which is expected to generate 4,200 kW hours of electricity annually. The firm said that it is now designing a larger, 190 kW rooftop system for the property to provide around 90 percent of the building's electrical needs. Soliant's concentrating solar energy systems provide a much higher density than typical flat panels, along with solar tracking.
