Sienza Energy Snags Series A For Battery Technology
Pasadena-based Sienza Energy, a startup working on lithium battery technology, said on Thursday that it has raised part of a Series A funding round from billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong. Size of the funding was not announced. According to the company, the funding comes on top of earlier seed funding from Kairos Ventures. Sienza Energy says it is developing new 3D electrode technology for lithium batteries. The company's technology comes out of Caltech, where it was incubated. Dr. Mory Gharib, founder and Chairman of the Board of Sienza is the Hans W. Liepmann Professor of Aeronautics and Bio-Inspired Engineering at Caltech.
