SGN Launches Effort Supporting Ocean Conservation
Los Angeles-based game developer SGN, the mobile and social gaming firm headed by former MySpace founder Chris DeWolfe, has kicked off an effort to help support ocean conservation via a relationship with EarthEcho International, a nonprofit headed by Phillippe Cousteau. The two said they are partnering to raise awareness and charitable donations for ocean conservation. As part of that partnership, the two said that SGN's Rescue Reef mobile game will include EarthEcho branded items in the game, and also provide facts about ocean conservation. A percentage of purchases of those items will go to support EarthEcho's youth education efforts. Philippe Cousteau is the grandson of famed ocean explorer Jacques Yves Cousteau. SGN has run similar promotions in the past; the company said it recently ran one with The Humane Society of the United States with its game Fluff Friends Rescue, and has a number of others in the works.
