Seismic Games Acquired By Niantic, Maker Of Pokemon Go
Culver City-based videogame maker Seismic Games has been acquired by Pokemon Go maker Niantic, the two companies announced this morning. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Seismic was founded in 2011, and has received backing from such investors as DFJ Frontier and venture capitalist Tom Matlack. The acquisition is the fourth acquisition in the last year by Niantic, which pointed out Seismic's work with such partners as Marvel, FoxNext, Sony Television, Alcon Interactive, and others. Seismic's titles include such VR and mobile games as Marvel: Strikeforce and Blade Runner: Revelations. Seismic's founders--which include Greg Borrud, Eric Gewirtz, and Chris Miller--previously worked at such companies as EA/Pandemic and Activision.
