Rustic Canyon Backs Social Shopping Site
Los Angeles-based venture capital firm Rustic Canyon is the lead investor in a round of funding from a social shopping site out of Y Combinator. According to Mertado, a social shopping service which links users with home and kitchen products via Facebook said Wednesday that it has raised $2.3M in a Series A round. The round came from new investor Rustic Canyon Partners, and also included prior investors Blumberg Capital and Redpoint Ventures. Mertado is based in Redwood City. A key part of Mertado's service is video content, whre it has syndicated content from Food Network, Fine Living, and Better TV to promote home an dkitchen products in its catalog. Mertado also has a deal with th Press Enterprise, the newspaper publisher for Riverside and San Bernardino County, where the Press Enterprise will develop a co-branded social shopping site with Mertado.
