RightScale Launches Hybrid, Private Cloud Management Software
Santa Barbara-based RightScale, the cloud computing firm backed by Tenaya Capital, DAG Ventures, Benchmark Capital, Index Ventures, and Presidio Ventures, said Tuesday that it has launched a new product called RightScale myCloud. The firm said the new myCloud product provides a framework to allow organizations to test and develop private clouds, for free. RightScale said the offering offers a "single pane of glass" view to both private and public clouds, and supports both private cloud infrastructure as well as public clouds like Amazon Web Services or Rackspace. The firm has linked with fellow Santa Barbara cloud computing firm Eucalyptus, as well as private cloud provider Cloud.com to offer up the software. RightScale's new myCloud offering is very similar to the setup that customer Zynga uses in its social gaming service; the configuration allows the deployment and migration of projects between both private clouds and public clouds like AWS.
