Report: Ring Could Do A Lot More For Camera Security
In a continued series of reports critiquing Santa Monica-based Ring, a new report--from the Verge--says that there's a lot more that Ring could do to ensure camera security, including checking to make sure users aren't using previously compromised passwords, making sure users aren't logging in from an unfamiliar IP address, and doesn't send users notifications when there are logins from unfamiliar devices. Ring has been hit by a number of unfavorable reports over the last few weeks due to a concerted effort by hackers to deliberately compromise accounts, almost entirely by using previously compromised user email and passwords from other services. Ring is now owned by Amazon.com.
