Report: Ring Coaching Police How To Gain Video Without A Warrant
Los Angeles-based Ring, the maker of doorbell and security cameras which is now owned by Amazon, is looking to make it very easy for local law enforcement to obtain surveillance footage without a need for a warrant, according to a report from Motherboard. According to the report, Ring's tools now provide an interactive map that allows the police to request footage from camera owners--and has actively been working on helping police "persuade" homeowners to hand over that footage. The report also says Ring is using those local police departments to boost its sales of Ring devices.
