RealD: Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame Biggest 3D Opening Of All Time
The opening of the Marvel Studio's Avenger: Endgame has set records as the biggest, 3D movie opening of all times, according to Beverly Hills-based 3D movie projection technology developer RealD. According to RealD, 3D screens represented approximately 45 percent of the estimated $1.2 billion generated from the opening of the movie. According to RealD, an estimated $540 million in ticket sales was generated by the 3D format. RealD will benefit from those sales: the company's business model revolves around taking a cut of each, 3D ticket sale in a movie theater. RealD did not say what part of the $540M in ticket sales it will receive, however, the higher the ticket sales numbers for 3D titles, the more RealD collects from movie theaters where it has installed its 3D movie projection systems. Avengers: Endgame is based on the Marvel Comics superhero comic the Avengers, and is the sequel to 2018's Avengers: Infinity War.
