Qualcomm Open Sources Eudora
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced today that it has teamed up with the Mozilla Foundation to develop an open source version of its popular Eudora email program. Qualcomm said that future versions of Eudora will be based on the same technology platform as Mozilla's open source Thunderbird email program. New versions of the software will be free and available via open source. Qualcomm said that the final commercial versions of its products have been released, and that it will cease to sell Eudora commercially when the open source version is released. As a result, the firm reduced the price of the software to $19.95 with six months of support.
