Qualcomm Links With Wireless Education Effort In India
San Diego-based Qualcomm said today that it has linked with the Sesame Workshop India, to provide mobile phones to boost the education of children of migrants in India. The project provides mobile phones to children of migrant workers, allowing them to access radio broadcasts, educational materials, videos, songs, stories, and more via 3G, based on "Galli Galli Sim Sim", the Indian version of Sesame Street. Qualcomm and Sesame Workshop India said the effort will provide high quality, age appropriate educational content to preschool age children who otherwise would lack access to educational materials. The effort is targeted at resident of Gurgaon, a suburb of New Delhi.
