Qualcomm Gets Danish Win
San Diego-based Qualcomm reported today that the firm has licensed its FLO modulator software, part of its technology for enabling broadcast TV transmission to mobile phones, to a Danish firm, ProTelevision Technologies (ProTV). Financial impact of the licensing deal was not disclosed. According to Qualcomm, the deal allows ProTV to develop and sell FLO-compliant modulators, expanding the equipment available to the mobile broadcast industry. ProTV was formerly a unit of Philips focused on TV testing equipment. Qualcomm's MediaFLO technology is used for broadcasting television and other video streaming to cell phones.
