Qualcomm Backs uCirrus
San Diego-based Qualcomm, via its venture capital arm, Qualcomm Ventures, has backed a firm developing operating software aimed at dealing with real time data processing. According to uCirrus, based in San Mateo, Qualcomm Ventures was one of the investors in a recent, $4M round. Other investors included SK Telecom Ventures and ATA Ventures, all of which are adding members to the company's board. Qualcomm's Jack Young serves as a board observer at uCirrus. uCirrus develops a virtual machine which is optimized for multicore processors, and is used for handling high volume datastreams.
