Qualcomm Backs Mobile Healthcare Firm
San Diego-based Qualcomm has backed a developer of remote, healthcare monitoring devices. According to AirStrip Technologies, a developer of medical devices which can be used to remotely monitor the heart EKGs, blood pressure, temperature, and other vital signs of patients, the investment came as part of a strategic investment. The funding was via the Qualcomm Life Fund, which invests in emerging technologies and business models that further accelerate the wireless market. Qualcomm Life Fund is managed by Qualcomm Ventures. Financial details of the investment were not announced. AirStrip is venture backed by Sequoia Capital, and is based in Texas. More information »
