QLogic Ships Blade Networking Card
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic has shipped a new, combination Ethernet and Fibre Channel expansion card for IBM's popular BladeCenter servers, the company said Tuesday. The new combo expansion card combines both a 4GB Fibre Channel and two 1G Ethernet networking ports. The new card is the first card for IBM's blade computing platform to offer both types of networking technology in a single slot. Blade server products are high-density, power- and cooling-managed servers being used by enterprises to pack a higher density of servers into a smaller space, and using less power. According to QLogic, the Ethernet and 4GB Fibre Channel Expansion Card (CFFh) for IBM BladeCenter is avialable now to IBM customers.
