Plan Bee Taps NameJet, AfterNic For .BUILD Top Level Domain
A Santa Monica-based domain venture, Plan Bee LLC, has selected domain name auction site NameJet--a joint venture of Santa Monica-based Demand Media and Web.com--along with domain marketplace AfterNic--to power initial distribution for its new top level domain, .BUILD. According to NameJet and Afternic, Plan Bee will use the two firms to operate sunrise and landrush auctions, as well as offer premium name distribution for the new TLD.
Plan Bee said its .BUILD top level domain is targeted at the online needs of the building industry, and will seek to serve builders through enhanced search, website design, news, information and virtual markets. The firm said it already has strategic partnerships with The Blue Book, The Association of General Contractors of America (AGC) and the American Subcontractors Association (ASA). The firm is one of many looking to take advantage of the new global Top Level Domain (gTLDs) being opened up. Those domains are at the same level as the common .com, .net, .org, and other domain extensions currently in use. Plan Bee is headed by George Minardos.
