An original, wood paneled Apple-1 computer -- originally owned by a professor at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga -- is going up for auction, according to a local auction house, John Moran Auctioneers. According to the auction company, the "Chaffey College Apple-1" is estimated at $400,000 to $600,000. The auction company said the computer--which is now owned by a student of the professor who originally purchased the Apple-1--was purchased in 1977 by the student for $650 when the professor upgraded to an Apple-II. Apparently, the Apple-I is one of ony 200 built by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs as a kit, and originally sold for $666.66.
